Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas have welcomed their first child on Saturday, January 15.
The couple made the surprise announcement on Friday, January 21, taking to each of their Instagram accounts to confirm they welcomed their first baby via surrogate.
– We are overjoyed to confirm that we have welcomed a baby via surrogate. We respectfully ask for privacy during this special time as we focus on our family – they each wrote.
Proud parents did not share the baby’s name or gender at this point.
The actress, 39, and Jonas Brothers musician, 29, married in 2018 in two glamorous ceremonies at the Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur, India, in front of 225 guests.
While the happy couple first wed in Jodhpur, they had two ceremonies over the course of five days, one Hindu and one Christian, to honor each of their cultures, which they blended during each celebration.
The couple first met in 2017 and took their romance public in 2018. They were engaged after just four months of dating.
In an interview earlier this month with “Vanity Fair”, Chopra spoke about the couple having a baby in the future but did not mention that they were already expecting.
– They’re (kids) a big part of our desire for the future. By God’s grace when it happens, it happens – she said.
